Stephanie Dean-Moore is a counselling therapist, visual artist and educator.  She has worked with clients and students of all ages, from pre-schoolers to adults in their nineties.  She has extensive experience working in the Arts, and as well as traditional talk therapy, she uses arts methods therapeutically in her counselling work.

As an educator, Stephanie has worked in the public school system since 1991, and with arts institutions such as the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Dawson Printshop of Dalhousie University, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University and the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design. Much of her work as an arts educator involves helping others to use the arts to explore and express themselves at a deeper level.  She is a past president of the Nova Scotia Art Teachers Association and has worked with educators to integrate the arts into their work with children and youth.

As a visual artist, Stephanie has worked in a variety of media, including textiles, book arts and jewellery.  Her work has been exhibited throughout Canada as well as internationally, and has appeared in several publications.  Much of her work is therapeutically-based, using her art making to explore personal issues such as grief, loss and fear.

Her therapeutically-based art practice, as well as her work supporting others to use art making in a meaningful way, lead Stephanie into the field of counselling.  She is a nationally certified therapist and has worked as a counsellor in the public school system since 2016.  Her school practice is with youth between the ages of 13 and 20 and their families.  In private practice, she works with individual clients and groups of all ages. She uses many therapeutic modalities in her counselling work, tailoring sessions around individual client needs and strengths.

Stephanie is a certified Hiking Field Leader through the Outdoors Council of Canada, and when she is not counselling or making art, she can be found hiking through the beautiful wilderness of Nova Scotia.
